Scope and Contents
The collection consists of four series, spanning the years from the 1950's through the 1980's. The series are theatrical performances, symphony, opera, and dance. The playbills, programs, and souvenir programs which form the collection reflect the major stage productions of drama, musical comedy, dance, opera, and the symphony for that period. Abstract
William Churchill, philologist, ethnologist, and writer, was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1859. He was appointed United States consul-general to Samoa (1896-1899) where he pursued his interest in philology and ethnology. Churchill also studied African languages and culture but less seriously than those of Polynesia.
